بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَٰنِ الرَّحِيمِ

أَلۡهَىٰكُمُ ٱلتَّكَاثُرُ ١
Alhakumu attakathur. Competition in [worldly] increase diverts you
حَتَّىٰ زُرۡتُمُ ٱلۡمَقَابِرَ ٢
Hatta zurtumu almaqabir. Until you visit the graveyards.
كَلَّا سَوۡفَ تَعۡلَمُونَ ٣
Kalla sawfa taAAlamoon. No! You are going to know.
ثُمَّ كَلَّا سَوۡفَ تَعۡلَمُونَ ٤
Thumma kalla sawfa taAAlamoon. Then no! You are going to know.
كَلَّا لَوۡ تَعۡلَمُونَ عِلۡمَ ٱلۡيَقِينِ ٥
Kalla law taAAlamoona AAilma alyaqeen. No! If you only knew with knowledge of certainty...
لَتَرَوُنَّ ٱلۡجَحِيمَ ٦
Latarawunna aljaheem. You will surely see the Hellfire.
ثُمَّ لَتَرَوُنَّهَا عَيۡنَ ٱلۡيَقِينِ ٧
Thumma latarawunnaha AAayna alyaqeen. Then you will surely see it with the eye of certainty.
ثُمَّ لَتُسۡــَٔلُنَّ يَوۡمَئِذٍ عَنِ ٱلنَّعِيمِ ٨
Thumma latus-alunna yawma-ithin AAaniannaAAeem. Then you will surely be asked that Day about pleasure.
