بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَٰنِ الرَّحِيمِ

إِذَا ٱلسَّمَآءُ ٱنفَطَرَتۡ ١
Itha assamao infatarat. When the sky breaks apart
وَإِذَا ٱلۡكَوَاكِبُ ٱنتَثَرَتۡ ٢
Wa-itha alkawakibu intatharat. And when the stars fall, scattering,
وَإِذَا ٱلۡبِحَارُ فُجِّرَتۡ ٣
Wa-itha albiharu fujjirat. And when the seas are erupted
وَإِذَا ٱلۡقُبُورُ بُعۡثِرَتۡ ٤
Wa-itha alqubooru buAAthirat. And when the [contents of] graves are scattered,
عَلِمَتۡ نَفۡسٞ مَّا قَدَّمَتۡ وَأَخَّرَتۡ ٥
AAalimat nafsun ma qaddamatwaakhkharat. A soul will [then] know what it has put forth and kept back.
يَـٰٓأَيُّهَا ٱلۡإِنسَٰنُ مَا غَرَّكَ بِرَبِّكَ ٱلۡكَرِيمِ ٦
Ya ayyuha al-insanu magharraka birabbika alkareem. O mankind, what has deceived you concerning your Lord, the Generous,
ٱلَّذِي خَلَقَكَ فَسَوَّىٰكَ فَعَدَلَكَ ٧
Allathee khalaqaka fasawwakafaAAadalak. Who created you, proportioned you, and balanced you?
فِيٓ أَيِّ صُورَةٖ مَّا شَآءَ رَكَّبَكَ ٨
Fee ayyi sooratin ma shaarakkabak. In whatever form He willed has He assembled you.
كَلَّا بَلۡ تُكَذِّبُونَ بِٱلدِّينِ ٩
Kalla bal tukaththiboona biddeen. No! But you deny the Recompense.
وَإِنَّ عَلَيۡكُمۡ لَحَٰفِظِينَ ١٠
Wa-inna AAalaykum lahafitheen. And indeed, [appointed] over you are keepers,
كِرَامٗا كَٰتِبِينَ ١١
Kiraman katibeen. Noble and recording;
يَعۡلَمُونَ مَا تَفۡعَلُونَ ١٢
YaAAlamoona ma tafAAaloon. They know whatever you do.
إِنَّ ٱلۡأَبۡرَارَ لَفِي نَعِيمٖ ١٣
Inna al-abrara lafee naAAeem. Indeed, the righteous will be in pleasure,
وَإِنَّ ٱلۡفُجَّارَ لَفِي جَحِيمٖ ١٤
Wa-inna alfujjara lafee jaheem. And indeed, the wicked will be in Hellfire.
يَصۡلَوۡنَهَا يَوۡمَ ٱلدِّينِ ١٥
Yaslawnaha yawma addeen. They will [enter to] burn therein on the Day of Recompense,
وَمَا هُمۡ عَنۡهَا بِغَآئِبِينَ ١٦
Wama hum AAanha bigha-ibeen. And never therefrom will they be absent.
وَمَآ أَدۡرَىٰكَ مَا يَوۡمُ ٱلدِّينِ ١٧
Wama adraka ma yawmu addeeni. And what can make you know what is the Day of Recompense?
ثُمَّ مَآ أَدۡرَىٰكَ مَا يَوۡمُ ٱلدِّينِ ١٨
Thumma ma adraka mayawmu addeen. Then, what can make you know what is the Day of Recompense?
يَوۡمَ لَا تَمۡلِكُ نَفۡسٞ لِّنَفۡسٖ شَيۡــٔٗاۖ وَٱلۡأَمۡرُ يَوۡمَئِذٖ لِّلَّهِ ١٩
Yawma la tamliku nafsun linafsinshay-an wal-amru yawma-ithin lillah. It is the Day when a soul will not possess for another soul [power to do] a thing; and the command, that Day, is [entirely] with Allah .
