بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَٰنِ الرَّحِيمِ

وَٱلسَّمَآءِ وَٱلطَّارِقِ ١
Wassama-i wattariq. By the sky and the night comer -
وَمَآ أَدۡرَىٰكَ مَا ٱلطَّارِقُ ٢
Wama adraka ma attariq. And what can make you know what is the night comer?
ٱلنَّجۡمُ ٱلثَّاقِبُ ٣
Annajmu aththaqib. It is the piercing star -
إِن كُلُّ نَفۡسٖ لَّمَّا عَلَيۡهَا حَافِظٞ ٤
In kullu nafsin lamma AAalayha hafith. There is no soul but that it has over it a protector.
فَلۡيَنظُرِ ٱلۡإِنسَٰنُ مِمَّ خُلِقَ ٥
Falyanthuri al-insanumimma khuliq. So let man observe from what he was created.
خُلِقَ مِن مَّآءٖ دَافِقٖ ٦
Khuliqa min ma-in dafiq. He was created from a fluid, ejected,
يَخۡرُجُ مِنۢ بَيۡنِ ٱلصُّلۡبِ وَٱلتَّرَآئِبِ ٧
Yakhruju min bayni assulbi wattara-ib. Emerging from between the backbone and the ribs.
إِنَّهُۥ عَلَىٰ رَجۡعِهِۦ لَقَادِرٞ ٨
Innahu AAala rajAAihi laqadir. Indeed, Allah, to return him [to life], is Able.
يَوۡمَ تُبۡلَى ٱلسَّرَآئِرُ ٩
Yawma tubla assara-ir. The Day when secrets will be put on trial,
فَمَا لَهُۥ مِن قُوَّةٖ وَلَا نَاصِرٖ ١٠
Fama lahu min quwwatin wala nasir. Then man will have no power or any helper.
وَٱلسَّمَآءِ ذَاتِ ٱلرَّجۡعِ ١١
Wassama-i thati arrajAA. By the sky which returns [rain]
وَٱلۡأَرۡضِ ذَاتِ ٱلصَّدۡعِ ١٢
Wal-ardi thati assadAA. And [by] the earth which cracks open,
إِنَّهُۥ لَقَوۡلٞ فَصۡلٞ ١٣
Innahu laqawlun fasl. Indeed, the Qur'an is a decisive statement,
وَمَا هُوَ بِٱلۡهَزۡلِ ١٤
Wama huwa bilhazl. And it is not amusement.
إِنَّهُمۡ يَكِيدُونَ كَيۡدٗا ١٥
Innahum yakeedoona kayda. Indeed, they are planning a plan,
وَأَكِيدُ كَيۡدٗا ١٦
Waakeedu kayda. But I am planning a plan.
فَمَهِّلِ ٱلۡكَٰفِرِينَ أَمۡهِلۡهُمۡ رُوَيۡدَۢا ١٧
Famahhili alkafireena amhilhum ruwayda. So allow time for the disbelievers. Leave them awhile.
